In honor of the MLK Day of Service, we invite community members to join WSU Extension Water Resources/Native Plant Salvage, and Veterans Conservation Corps at a stunning Capitol Land Trust Property for a day of habitat restoration and hands-on learning. Hot vegetarian soup, sandwiches, hot drinks, cookies, and other snacks will be available to keep volunteers fueled for this important work.

While helping with the revegetation, volunteers will learn about techniques for habitat restoration, including planting on slopes and using live stakes for erosion control. Our work on MLK Day will be an important step to protect freshwater wetlands—providing shade and terrestrial inputs directly to a salmon-bearing stream, and preventing incursion of invasive species.
