What do Billy Joel, Sir Elton John and Carole King have in common? Music by these three famous artists will be featured in Masterworks Choral Ensemble’s next concert – Pop Icons.
These singer/songwriters and pianists have written and recorded some of the most highly acclaimed and widely recognized pop music in the world. Tunes such as I Feel the Earth Move, Uptown Girl, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, among others, will be performed by the choir accompanied by an instrumental combo with drums, bass and saxophone.
Each of these talented artists are highly recognized for their lifetime achievements and have been inducted into, among others, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have won Grammies, Golden Globes and Academy Awards, and have each received the MusiCares Person of the Year award by the Academy of Arts and Sciences for their artistic achievement in the music industry and dedication to philanthropy. And, of course, they have sold hundreds of millions of recordings.
