Local author Peter James Neff will read from his newly published collection of inspirational poetry, “Prayers to Live,” and answer questions about his poetry and artwork. Copies of the book, which is illustrated with Neff’s artwork, will be available for purchase and signing. The event will be at the Tumwater Timberland Library on Tuesday, December 3 from 6 to 7 p.m.

From the publisher: “[Neff’s] poetry is deeply spiritual, sometimes whimsical, and surprisingly insightful. Prayers to Live is a special collection of Peter’s poetry, selected from his works written over a span of sixteen years. It is colorfully illustrated with his beautiful and unique artwork. Peter is very excited to share his work and hopes that people will gain ‘a sense of hope, joy, and peace… and very few goosebumps’ by reading his book.”

Mr. Neff, a young man with Down syndrome, lives in Olympia with his parents, goes to work every day, volunteers in his community and takes an active role in his church. He is a prolific poet, responsive to each joy, sorrow, friend and everyday experience in his life. A small preview of his work is available here.
