Johanna Warren will perform on May 8 at Rhythm & Rye. A Portland-based songwriter, Johanna’s new album “nūmūn” is dedicated to the moon in all its glory, and was recorded entirely with acoustic and found objects in Johanna’s apartment. Her lilting, confident melodies and adept guitar picking strongly reflect her influences which include Elliot Smith, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. Last fall, Johanna toured with her friend Mitski (Double Double Whammy) and silenced audiences around the East Coast. Each night she sought to transport the audience to a kind of alternate realm using light, sound and scent to create a sense of balance, self-awareness and healing.
