GOOD SHEPHERD OLYMPIA TURNS 65!
Come celebrate Good Shepherd’s 65th anniversary of its founding from June 5-15. Special events have been planned on both Sundays, June 5 and 12, with a “Sweet Memories” dessert and sharing time on Friday evening, June 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 5 will mark both a celebration of the Spirit (Pentecost) and of the journey of faith (Confirmation); Sunday, June 12 will be an ancient/new worship service, giving thanks for “a blessed history and a REFIRED future,” led by special guest preacher The Rev. Dave Ellingson, church leader, paddler, podcaster, and author. A concert for the wider community, titled “Arise, My Soul, Arise,” will be offered on June 15 at 7 p.m., led by the church’s music director Nickolas Carlson, who is also the director of the Olympia Chamber Orchestra, which will offer a concert at the church on Sunday, June 12, at 2:30 p.m.

– 9 a.m. Forum — Reflections on the Refirement of Ministry in Our Time — led by Rev. Dave Ellingson, ELCA pastor, church leader, adventurer, paddler, podcaster, and author

Sunday, June 12
– 2:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd — Brilliance: A Concert of the Olympia Chamber Orchestra, led by Nickolas Carlson, featuring the music of Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Rameau, and Janacek;
– Guests: the OMTA Concerto Competition Winners

Wednesday, June 15
– 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd — Arise, My Soul, Arise: You are invited to an eclectic evening of music in the Good Shepherd Sanctuary on June 15 at 7:00 pm. Performers will include Daniel Boschee, Richelle Hoosier, Darrell Born, Khristy Harvey, Elizabeth Gross, Anne Edge, and Nickolas Carlson. The evening will include music for vocalists (solos and duets), violin solo, organ solo, and piano quartet (violin, viola, cello, and piano). Music by Bach, Mozart, Florence Price, Antonin Dvorak, Samuel Barber, Dan Forrest, and others will be performed.
Free-will offering; suggested donation: $10
