In recent years, since the Great Recession, many families across the South Sound have experienced hardships and depended on social services to get by. On Monday, January 25, join Commissioner Romero and her guest, Family Support Center director Shelli Slaughter, for coffee, and learn about resources available to Thurston County families in need.

The Family Support Center of South Sound (FSC) is a local nonprofit multi-service agency, founded in 1992 to provide families, children, and survivors of domestic violence with coordinated supportive services in one centralized location. FSC seeks to build strong, resilient, healthy, self-sufficient families through a variety of collaborative programs and supportive services, with the goal of reducing the impacts of family and child poverty, homelessness, and violence in South Sound communities.

Schelli Slaughter has been the Executive Director of FSC since 2006 and has been employed at the agency since 2004.
