Award Winning Flower Show Returns
to Thurston County Fair!!
It’s a labor of love for the garden club members of Black Hills District every year in August. They’ve been doing it for decades. Nearly a hundred volunteers
work throughout the year to produce a stunning, educational show for our community. Last year’s show, “In the Hen House,” received a prestigious honor from the Thurston County Fair Board acknowledging the exhibit as “Best of Fair.”
This year’s show is titled, “Adventures in South America- Aventuras en Sudamérica.” It honors the homeland of Alli the Alpacca, the Fair’s mascot. NEW THIS YEAR….each morning of the fair there will be special activities for kids of all ages supervised by
garden club hostesses in the Thurston Expo Center lobby.
As in years passed, Thurston County residents are encouraged to enter. You are not
required to be a district garden club member. The show will contain these sections;
horticulture, floral design, youth entries, educational exhibits and botanical arts.

margin. Click on the bullet labeled Open Class. On the next screen, scroll down and
click to Open Class Floral Division . All the information you need to enter the flower
show will be in that document.
Important dates:
Tuesday, July 30th , 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Bring your exhibits to the Thurston Expo Center of the fairgrounds. Since the fair won’t be open yet, you can park close to the building.
Volunteers will assist you with your entries.
Wednesday, July 31st , 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. Your entries will be judged. At 10:00 a.m. the
fair opens and you are free to visit the show!
