Cartoonist Megan Kelso will talk about her work and the sources of her creativity at the Lacey Timberland Library, Friday, September 25 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Kelso will explain how she uses personal memory, research, and photo references to create sequential panels evoking the sense of a specific, inhabited world. She will show examples of her work, along with pictures of places that have inspired her.

Following a brief stint at art school, Megan Kelso completed her B.A. at The Evergreen State College. Inspired by the explosion of ‘zines, bands, and DIY art projects, she published the “Girlhero” mini comic with funding from the Xeric Foundation. Kelso received two Ignatz awards for her graphic novel “Artichoke Tales.” In 2007, The New York Times Magazine invited Kelso to serialize her “Watergate Sue” comic as part of a weekly Funny Pages feature. She is currently at work on her third collection of short stories.
