ET Russian’s new book, The Ring of Fire Anthology is a collection of comics, poetry, essays and interviews that appeared in the zine of the same name. The Seattle-based author trails a variety of descriptors: author, artist, filmmaker, performer, educator and healthcare provider.  Speaking at the Olympia Timberland Library, Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m., she will give an illustrated reading from the anthology, works shaped by Russian’s vantage point at the nexus of culture and healthcare.

Russian’s official biography states that she “believes art is a powerful tool in the movements for disability justice, gender freedom and liberation for all people.”

Russian will be joined by two Seattle-based cartoonists: Mita Mahato, a cut paper and comics artist whose work revolves around themes of loss and identity, and  Robyn Jordan, a cartoonist and illustrator who teaches art in a public elementary school.
