You may have heard a lot about U.S. involvement in World War II, but the question is: how did the war years affect us on the home front locally? Let us take you back to that time. Join GFWC Capital Woman’s Club and the Seattle Children’s Hospital Olympia Bargain Boutique for a unique event and fundraiser Saturday, March 16, 2019, 1pm at the Blackbox of the Washington Center for Performing Arts to help raise funds for the Seattle Children’s Hospital Uncompensated Care Fund. Tickets for the GFWC Capital Woman’s Club Vintage Fashion show are available on the Washington Center for Performing Arts website.
This event will be emcee’d by Don Trosper, Public History Manager, of the Schmidt House and Olympia Tumwater Foundation. Chris Schultz of the Olympia Bargain Boutique will share the importance of the Uncompensated Care Fund work for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Attendees will be treated to a WWII vintage fashion show while Don Trosper shares interesting WWII information. The culmination of the event will be a surprise visit by ‘Rosie the Riveter’ portrayed by Lacy Rodriguez.
The GFWC Capital Woman’s Club of Lacey has been actively serving the community for over 15 years. They meet monthly and support many worthy projects such as: Homeless Backpacks, Thurston County Food Bank, Local School Scholarships and many other important projects to serve community needs.
