A Slice of the Good Life: The 6th Annual Pizza Klatch Gayla

Please join us for A Slice of the Good Life, our joyous 6th Annual Gayla, a community SHELL-ebration and fundraiser organized by and benefiting Pizza Klatch! Pizza Klatch is a non-profit organization that facilitates lunchtime support groups for LGBTQ+ youth in nearly all public Thurston County-based high schools. Each week, Pizza Klatch provides two trained facilitators and free pizza at each school in a safe and confidential space on campus where LGBTQ+ students and their allies can attend and discuss everything from their struggles with school work to suicidal thoughts. Due to increased need, we expanded this past school year, and are currently in 14 Thurston County based high schools and 1 middle school, serving 340-400 students weekly.

2020 will mark the 6th year of Pizza Klatch’s annual fundraiser, benefit and community celebration, A Slice of the Good Life, also known as the Pizza Klatch annual Gayla. Over 600 people, including volunteers, community members and Pizza Klatch youth were in attendance at our 2019 fundraising Gayla, helping us to raise more than $110,000 to further our mission to support the LGBTQ+ youth of Thurston County and beyond. We are anxiously looking forward to even greater success at this year’s event, themed “The Coast is Queer,” which will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 and will feature performances by hilarious stand-up comedian SOLOMON GEORGIO (Conan, 2 Dope Queens, Comedy Central ) and RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 runner up, actress and Broadway star, PEPPERMINT. We will also have performances and stories from Pizza Klatch youth, a silent auction and prize raffle with locally resourced treasures, our annual Raise the Paddle fundraiser, an enchanting “Under the Sea” themed instant camera photo booth, and of course, pizza! Doors are at 6 PM, the main stage show begins at 7:30 PM. Our very popular VIP Reception catered by Dillinger’s will also feature a special meet and greet with the performers as well as an exclusive private performance from Seattle-based singer/songwriter, Champagne Honeybee. The VIP Reception begins at 6 PM. In accordance to our “The Coast is Queer” theme, feel free to come dressed in your best nautical, beachy, pirate, mermaid etc, attire!

Thanks to community support, we will be able to continue to prevent suicide, reduce self harm and chemical dependency, keep youth in school, promote resiliency and build safer schools for all.
