Olympia’s “The Null Set Coffee House” was a safe haven for new ideas.
Playwright Bertolt Brecht’s “The Exception and the Rule” was staged in Olympia in 1967 at a then-popular “The Null Set Coffee House.” In remembrance of the venue and the event, five women will give a public reading of the play at the Olympia Timberland Library on Wednesday, January 27, from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.
Readers will be Llyn De Danaan, Susan Tuzzolino, Sarah Stockholm, Laura Schleyer and Patricia Holm.
Holm was one of the founders of “The Null Set Coffee House.” She remembers it as “a safe haven for new ideas and a stage for Northwest musicians who were exploring sounds from the past.” Holm is the author of “The Null Set Remembered: A Memoir of a Coffee House 1964-1967.”
