Oly Town FC has been hard at work this season to deliver high quality soccer to the South Sound. And as the regular outdoor soccer season comes to a close in July, both the men’s and women’s teams continue to be competitive, with hopes for postseason play. Oly Town FC has plans to finish out the season strong, with the help of the community. The teams’ remaining home games are an opportunity for community members to support live pre-professional sports in Thurston County, while also enjoying a family-friendly atmosphere.

Oly Town FC Outdoor Soccer Teams Have Strong Start To Season

The Oly Town FC outdoor soccer teams play within the USL, an organization that houses a range of leagues, including semi-professional and pre-professional soccer, providing opportunities for All-American college athletes who want to continue playing while schools are on summer break. The outdoor women’s team for Oly Town FC plays in the USL W League and the outdoor men’s team plays in the USL League Two.

And Oly Town FC has had the strongest start to an outdoor soccer season in club history. The women’s team remains undefeated and is receiving national attention, having recently been ranked number seven in the nation within the USL W League. The men’s team is currently tied for second place in their division. Both teams hope to finish out the season strong and remain competitive for postseason play.

Ryan Perkins, principal owner of Oly Town FC, says it is great to see strong showings from the men’s and women’s teams this season, especially after work that was done in the offseason to recruit quality players and coaching staff.

“It’s super exciting, super, super awesome,” says Perkins. “And we feel like we’ve done a good job in the offseason to have this type of success and now we’re just preparing for those USL playoffs, should they come to fruition.”

Oly Town FC Looks To Support From Community as Regular Season Concludes

There are multiple home games remaining for both the men’s and women’s teams, before the regular season draws to a close. Games take place at South Sound Stadium and provide a fun atmosphere for all ages. Home games for the women’s team will take place on June 30 and July 2. Home games for the men’s team will take place on July 2 and July 14.

While at the game, attendees may enjoy food trucks and the Kid’s Zone with activities like an inflatable soccer field, and giant board games like Jenga and Connect Four. Home games may also feature special themed nights, including a partnership with Bloodworks Northwest on June 30 and Military, Police & Fire night on July 2.

Perkins says home games are a unique opportunity to watch talented players and future professional athletes in a local venue.

“It’s family friendly, it’s a lot of fun,” explains Perkins. “It’s a great atmosphere, but the actual game on the field, it’s unique because you’re seeing a bunch of Division One, All-American athletes play in Olympia, where there is no Division One soccer. And it’s really unique to be able to see all these players put together. It’s like seeing an all-star college team play and it’s super unique to be able to see that.”

With the potential for both teams to make the postseason, Oly Town FC hopes the community will continue to rally around the club this summer. Support from the community is not only vital for team morale, but also for current and future club operations. Perkins says the primary way to support the soccer club is through attending home games. Proceeds from ticket sales go directly back to the club and help to maintain team expenses, including facility costs and travel costs.

“All the money goes right back into the club,” says Perkins. “It’s a passion project for me as an owner and all the money that comes in from ticket sales, sponsors or everything, literally is rolled right back up into the teams.”

Alongside ticket sales, there are additional ways to support Oly Town FC, club athletes and the greater soccer community in the South Sound. Businesses can explore sports marketing opportunities through sponsorship or banner ads at home games. The Oly Soccer Foundation helps to provide outreach, programming and access to soccer education for low-income youth and families.

Oly Town FC is also interested in pursuing community partnerships with local organizations to help provide a positive effect in the community. Through cultivating a family-friendly environment and developing these local partnerships, Oly Town FC hopes to be a continued source of competitive, pre-professional soccer for the South Sound for years to come.
