The work this team does takes them worldwide as gondolas are evolving into a common form of urban, aerial transit. They’re not just for ski-resorts anymore and SCJ is a leader in the industry. A Boom in the Industry Means More Engineering Jobs

In the world of engineering, planning, landscape architecture and design, there is endless opportunity, especially with the influx of projects in recent years. “There is a great volume of work with so much funding for infrastructure and the state’s recent plan to update community comprehensive plans,” shares President and CEO Jean Carr. “It is very competitive for engineers, planners, architects, and other highly skilled positions so it is a very exciting time to be working in this industry.”

With so much growth, there is amazing potential for experienced professionals and individuals looking for a career shift.

“We have many different jobs available and nearly every one of our offices, across three states, is looking for people in a variety of job categories,” Jean says. “We always love to see applicants with experience but are also focused on hiring recent graduates and training them up into positions.”

SCJ Alliance Invests in Training and Education

What people do for a living is hugely personal for them, and SCJ Alliance recognizes that investing in training really helps strengthen employees’ sense of pride and joy. “From the very beginning we have worked hard to make SCJ the kind of place where people want to come to work every day,” shares Jean. “We want people to like who they work with, like the challenge, have opportunities, and see personal growth as much as career growth.”

One of the primary ways that SCJ Alliance creates a personal development culture is through top-notch training. Educational opportunities for all employees promote growth in both their job and personal lives.  “We do a lot of internal mentoring and one-on-one training,” Jean explains. “Our staff is really enthusiastic about sharing information with each other. One of our engineers, Jason Bruhn in our Lacey office, actually hosts a weekly 15-minute meeting called ‘Tune-ups and Tricks’ for people who want to learn.”

SCJ Alliance has also developed internal training opportunities through their very own SCJ University, which offers a broad range of topics. In other cases, for job-specific training or employees looking to gain new skills, SCJ Alliance proudly invests in staff attending external classes and trainings.

Beyond a satisfying career and opportunities for growth, SCJ Alliance is really its own family. Many of the staff develop close friendships and participate in fun activities outside of work, creating stronger bonds and strengthening their working relationships.

A big part of their work culture is creating enjoyable, memorable experiences that bring their staff closer together. “Whether it’s a training we are doing or just silly things like a pizza-making class, we as a collective do a great job of finding ways to have fun together,” Jean says. These moments set SCJ Alliance apart and make it an enjoyable place to be.
