Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) has more than 800 doses of Pfizer vaccine that are set to expire in the next week. PHSS is hosting three clinics this week for any member of the public age 16 and older needing a first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Appointments are optional and not required to receive a vaccine.
All minors 16 and 17 years old must receive parent or guardian consent to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. This can be done online by registering for an appointment or at the time of vaccination. Parents or guardians do not have to be present at the time of vaccination if they signed the consent form online during registration.
There is a drive-through clinic Wednesday, May 5, at South Puget Sound Community College from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pedestrians, bicycles, and motorcycles are also welcome.
“We really hope people will come after work, school, or sports to get vaccinated. It’s easy and fast. Wait times are not long and people do not need an advance appointment,” said PHSS Director Schelli Slaughter.
There is a walk-up clinic Thursday, May 6, at the PHSS building at 412 Lilly Road NE in Olympia from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is an indoor clinic with wheelchair accessibility.
There is a drive-through clinic Sunday, May 9, at South Puget Sound Community College from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pedestrians, bicycles, and motorcycles are also welcome. All mothers will receive flowers with their vaccination in honor of Mother’s Day.
Appointments take approximately 30 minutes from start to finish, which includes a 15-minute post-vaccine wait time.
