The Olympia Downtown Alliance is canceling the 41st season of Music in the Park. This annual free concert series occurs in July and August at Sylvester Park and the Port of Olympia.

The announcement comes from the Olympia Downtown Alliance Board of Directors after considering anticipated Washington State re-opening orders and timelines, and much discussion about how to keep the concert series safe for all – from attendees to performers, staff and volunteers.

“We want to keep our community, musicians, staff, and volunteers safe during this unprecedented time. The public health risk of hosting a free event is too high,” said Josh Gobel, Olympia Downtown Alliance Board President.

“It was a difficult decision to cancel the event, but we are exploring alternative ways to bring this incredible music series to the community,” said Todd Cutts, Executive Director of the Olympia Downtown Alliance.

The Alliance has partnered with Octapas Café and the City of Olympia to present the Promising Notes music series, featuring local musicians performing on video. This series can be found on the Olympia Downtown Alliance’s YouTube channel here.
