Brenda C., a school counselor and mother of two adult children, recently moved into her new “Primrose” home in Lacey with her rescue dog, Daphne. She says she had been a skeptical buyer, carefully considering location, price and quality.
“To be honest, I was at first hesitant because Kensington is off of College Street,” explains Brenda. “But, the minute I drove into the neighborhood, it just felt like a little piece of heaven. It is quiet and peaceful and welcoming, with neighbors walking around with their dogs and waving hello.”
Brenda says the location is convenient for her lifestyle.
“With the roundabout, you can get easily onto College,” she explains.“The accessibility of grocery, home improvement and many other stores makes shopping easy.”
Brenda grew up in Olympia and though Kensington is just a couple of miles from I-5, she knows the backroads to her job at Jefferson Middle School in Westside Olympia.
“I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it has been getting here.”
Brenda’s home not only faces out to the community’s lovely park, but it is also beautifully landscaped and requires little or no maintenance.
“The front lawn is mowed and watered with a managed sprinkler system and my back yard is a landscaped patio,” Brenda says smiling. “The landscaping is meticulously maintained in the entire neighborhood.”

Brenda was concerned about whether she could afford the luxury of a Rob Rice Home.
“When I first started looking around, I would drive through Rob Rice Homes neighborhoods and think, ‘I would love to own a Rob Rice Home’, but didn’t think I could afford one.”
“I looked around at other homes that I thought were in my price range, but with the quality and craftsmanship of a Rob Rice Home for just a little more money, there was no comparison.”
Brenda also was convinced by Rob Rice Homes standard features like granite or quartz counters, crown molding, hardwood flooring and beautiful beechwood cabinets. And, because she chose her home early enough in the construction process, she had the joy of picking out many of her design features.
Brenda met her mom at the Design Center and they had fun choosing her flooring, the backsplash tile, the counter tops and more—all in one day.
“When they asked if we wanted the possible upgrades, I thought, ‘What is the point?’ I don’t need any upgrades, because what they put in this home as standard is really quality.”
Brenda said the end result of her choices exceeded her expectations.
“When you walk on my carpet, it is just so plush, and it is not an upgrade. When I walked into my bathroom and saw my tub and the tile I picked out to go around it, it took my breath away.”

Brenda’s home might seem large for one person, but hosting guests and family are a priority for her.
“I wanted the three-bedroom home because my daughter visits off and on and I want to be able to have guests over and to entertain family. I am now central to Portland and Everett and can host the sleepovers my cousins and I do every few months.”

“I would not live anywhere else,” Brenda concludes. “I have lived out on Cooper Point and in a home with a view of the water and Mount Rainier. I can tell you without question, that I feel happier and more welcomed in this neighborhood than I ever did out there. Everyone that comes into my home is stunned by the amount of storage, the attention to detail. They walk round and say it just feels like home. It is beautiful and well done, but it is also homey. I am the happiest I have been.”
