Gabriele Zaccagnini and Nate Boatright each recorded braces to lead the Oly Town Artesians in a 15-6 opening night loss to the Snohomish Skyhawks. Three Skyhawks recorded hat tricks – Andrew Escalante, Paul Burgess and Alex Molchan – in their big Western Indoor Soccer League win.

The Skyhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead just two minutes into the game on goals by John Troka and Aaron Burns and built a 3-0 lead before Zaccagnini made it 3-1 with 4:48 left in the first quarter. But the Skyhawks exploded for seven goals in the second quarter, including two by Escalante, and took a commanding 11-3 lead at halftime.

Tonbra Akpobodor scored once in his debut for the Artesians and JT Meyer added a goal in the fourth quarter, but the Artesians couldn’t get out of the hole they dug for themselves and allowed 15 goals for the second time in franchise history. The nine goal loss was the second worse loss for the Artesians over the course of four their four seasons. The Tacoma Stars knocked them off 15-2 during the 2014-2015 season.

Tye Hastings scored twice for the Skyhawks and Corey Hendricksen added another to round out the scoring. Trevor Daveron got the start in goal and split time with Seth Hespe, who made numerous fantastic saves when Oly turned up the pressure in the third quarter.

Oly Town now has a couple of weeks to right the ship with a bye next week and the Thanksgiving break coming up. They will travel to the Snohomish Soccer Dome for a rematch with the Skyhawks on December 2. They return home to face the Tacoma Stars Reserves on December 16. First kick at The Pavilion at Evergreen is set for 6:30 p.m.
