The poet Matthew Arnold once said “the pursuit of perfection, then, is the pursuit of sweetness and light.” As spring changes into summer with golden sunsets, fragrant lilacs and weekends made for meandering drives, immerse yourself further in Waves of Perfection at Shelton’s Little Creek Casino Resort.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, May 20. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and promise a tantalizing array of decadence, all benefitting the Squaxin Island Museum. In 2016, Waves of Perfection offered nearly 100 varieties of wine, all skillfully paired with global cuisine. Sweet and savory, familiar or exotic, the Casino’s master sommelier oversees this amazing—and growing—feast.

Becoming a sommelier is no easy task. It’s more than simply an enthusiasm for wine. The Casino’s sommelier carefully selects the wine for the event, pairing thoughtfully with the cuisine creating enticing culinary combinations. Come explore tastings and pairings that will amaze even the most untested palate, all while benefitting a cause of vital importance to our community.

While sampling, enjoy live music and a silent auction all evening long. Turn your getaway into a staycation with overnight room specials. For only $249, couples receive 2 tickets to Waves of Perfection and a room at the Resort.

Save some room or plan for a visit the next day to restaurants like the Squaxin Island Seafood Bar, relax at the Seven Inlets Spa or put your feet up in the Skookum Spirit Cigar and Wine Lounge. Check for Casino promotions to fund a return trip or two in the future.

Tickets to the event are $65 a person with early registration, $75 at the door. The event is for 21+ and dress is business casual. Monies raised benefit the nearby Museum Library and Research Center (MLRC) of the Puget Sound’s Squaxin Island Tribe.

The MLRC strives to teach ongoing generations about the region’s vibrant history. As they explain, “The hopes and dreams of our elders and those who have walked before us have come true through this magnificent facility. Our culture, past and present, is preserved for people of all generations. With a small, yet highly professional staff, the MLRC presents exhibits, lectures, films, tours, traditional skills workshops and educational outreach programs for students in local schools. The MLRC also features a public library and a specialty gift shop specializing in Squaxin Island and other Native American art and literature.”

Waves of Perfection will be held at the Skookum Creek Event Center at Little Creek Casino. Purchase tickets at the Casino box office, online, or call the Squaxin Island Museum with questions at 360-432-3849.
