Lacey’s S.T.E.M. Fair will be held Saturday, May 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Huntamer Park in Lacey. The free, award winning, event will showcase school clubs, hobbyists and businesses from all over Thurston County sharing all kinds of S.T.E.M. related projects, demonstrations and hands on activities that will captivate all ages.

S.T.E.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, all of which are vital fields that shape our future.  The S.T.E.M. Fair is a great way for students and the community to learn more about how S.T.E.M. subjects are used in real world applications in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Lacey S.T.E.M. Fair won the 2015 WA Recreation and Parks Assoc. Program Excellence Spotlight Award for Innovative Programming and the 2016 WA Festivals and Events Pacific NW Summit Silver Award for Innovating Programming.

Highlights from this year’s event include the robotics demonstrations, air powered rocket launches, a solar powered ducky dash, drones, military robots, interactive Lego activities, and fun science show presented by Alex Zerbe, the “Zaniac” at 12:00 p.m. Alex has performed over 1,500 school assembly programs in 44 states. He has appeared on both America’s Got Talent and Last Comic Standing as well as national television in China and France. A natural born motivator and two-time Guinness World Record holder, Alex knows how to inspire and connect with students of all ages.

The event will include the Cool Ride Car Show, presented by and supporting the students of North Thurston Public Schools.  Alongside the car show, students will be demonstrating what they are learning that is car related like repair, maintenance and diagnostic programs.
