The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust (CRBLT) was recently awarded a $7,000 grant from the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound. The mission of the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust is to conserve, protect, and restore ecologically significant lands in the Chehalis Basin. “

The donation will be used to help the mainly volunteer–driven land trust build capacity and expand its visibility throughout the Chehalis basin communities. To help achieve these objectives, the grant includes funding for the redesign and redevelopment of the land trust’s website, and new technology.

“We are so thankful for the support of the Community Foundation. This grant will enable our grassroots land trust to better acquaint our local communities with “our feet on the ground” approach to protecting natural places for wildlife and people.” said Jan Robinson, CRBLT President.

Grant funds will also allow for the land trust to conduct public outreach to its local communities of: Aberdeen, Centralia, Chehalis, Elma, Hoquiam, McCleary, Montesano, Rochester and others. The land trust has developed an engaging and interactive PowerPoint presentation and is eager to share this program with community service groups and organizations. For information on how you can schedule a presentation for your group or organization; or on how you can become a volunteer land steward, please contact the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust at chehalislandtrust@yahoo.com.
