Olympia City Manager Steve Hall announced today the appointment of Kellie Purce Braseth as Olympia’s Strategic Communications Director beginning July 13. Braseth is Dean of College Relations for South Puget Sound Community College. She replaces Cathie Butler, Olympia’s long-time Communications Manager, who is retiring at the end of July.

“I’m pleased that Kellie is joining the City’s executive leadership team,” says Hall. “She brings a wealth of experience to the City as both a community leader and communications professional. In her 20 years at SPSCC, Kellie fostered an environment of innovation, inclusive community outreach, and award-winning communication success.”

Braseth has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism and a Master’s of Arts in English from Idaho State University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater Visitor & Convention Bureau, the Olympian newspaper’s 2015 Board of Contributors, and the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Arts and Letter at Idaho State University. Braseth is a former board member of Ballet Northwest and the Child Care Action Council.

“Olympia is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. I am thrilled at the opportunity to serve the city, to be part of such a strong leadership team, and to make a difference in a community I love,” says Braseth. “SPSCC is a fantastic institution filled with great people committed to students succeeding and having good lives. I will miss them and the mission. But I’m looking forward to working with the City Council and the staff, and to serving my community in a new way.”
