A portrait painted of Gallagher in 1980 has become the cover to his latest comedy album.

The name “Gallagher” is synonymous with sledgehammers, exploding watermelons, and manic comedic energy.  For more than 40 years, he’s travelled, performed, and kept amazed audiences laughing on television and in person.

Friday, November 14, Gallagher will bring his manic energy to Skokomish’s Lucky Dog Casino.  The two shows that night (7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.) are the only ones in our area and part of his 2014 Farewell Tour.  Long-time fans please note: there will only be a Splash Zone at the 9:30 p.m. show so don’t miss out; newcomers to Gallagher, click here and use your imagination.

These shows promise extra enjoyment, thanks to the unique event center at the Lucky Dog.  Marketing contact Jonathan Schmitt describes it as “a small intimate venue with big acts…The acoustics are fantastic and the experience is as though you are hanging out with the performer.  Our goal over the last year was to bring a variety of acts to Mason County to identify what everyone loves to listen to.  Acts have included Little River Band, Rick Derringer, Collin Raye, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Pat Travers Band, Jamie O’Neal, Jessica Andrews, The Cadillac Three, Austin Jenckes and many more.”

With such an up close and personal setting, this show promises to be an amazing night.  Gallagher has recently appeared at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York, and theatres in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Indianapolis, and Philadelphia.  His newest album can be heard on all formats, including via Spotify, SoundCloud, iTunes, Pandora, and Amazon.

Star of 15 comedy specials from 1980-2007, Gallagher has appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, numerous Showtime specials, and even a 2012 Geico insurance ad, featuring his famed Sledge-O-Matic.

Outside the comedy world, he ran for governor in the 2003 California recall election, obtained a patent for new software for casino slot machines, and composed many new songs and completed a book of children’s poetry.  He’s proud that these achievements “show what an unusual person I am.  I’m really a poet these days, an inventor, making things that make the world a better place.”  An example of his poetry can be found online (‘On Duty Duck’) and details of the patent that he’s pitching to such notables as Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos here.

Don’t miss the chance to see live comedy from the non-safety of the Splatter Zone.

Anytime we can interact face-to-face without a screen is delightful.  Watching the old specials on TV is a great way to introduce our favorite comics to the next generation.  But seldom do you take to Facebook after turning off the TV to comment “Gallagher was amazing tonight at the Levoy.  I’m still getting food out of my hair.”

Tickets for the shows at the Lucky Dog Casino are $20 for general admission and $30 for reserved seats.  You can purchase them online at or at The Drift Gift Shop on site.  Call the Casino at 360-877-5656 with any questions and make sure to bring a raincoat (even if it’s dry outside!).
