A popular wine, Jetty Cat Red, is one of 36 varietals made by Westport Winery.

At the Washington State Wine Competition held in Yakima, Washington on June 20, Westport Winery earned five medals.

Jetty Cat, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah, Tempranillo and Syrah, earned a gold medal. The tasting notes describe it as “Wall Street rich and ultra-luxurious.” In the winery’s Farm to Fork Restaurant they suggest you pair it with their Italian sausage stuffed mushrooms. The musical pairing is with Cat Scratch Fever by Ted Nugent. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals. The label features original art by Aberdeen’s Brian McGregor. In the winery’s sculpture garden this wine is commemorated with a series of topiary cats atop a rock jetty.

A gold medal was also awarded to True Blue, a fortified blueberry dessert wine described as having “lip-smacking goodness and antioxidant delight.” It is suggested that this treat be paired with a Blueberry Scookie from the winery’s bakery while listening toBlue Suede Shoes by Elvis Presley.

This wine benefits North Beach PAWS in Ocean Shores.

“Summer-pie, rich, refreshing, juicy and naked,” Peaches on the Beaches (peach Riesling) earned a silver medal. It pairs perfectly with a vegetarian Land Grant Sandwich while listening to Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels. The Grays Harbor Breast Cancer Alliance receives a portion of the proceeds from this wine. The label was painted by Darryl Easter and the sculpture was created by Lora Malakoff.

Captain Gray’s Gewürztraminer with its “sultry hints of lychee and cloves, like solitude on the beach” received a bronze medal. It pairs with anything from the Pacific Rim, but at the winery it is recommended with their bacon-wrapped prawns topped with pineapple horseradish glaze called Mermaids on HorsebackThis wine benefits Grays Harbor Bishop Center and Symphony and the winery musically pairs it with The Story by Brandi Carlile. This label features an original watercolor by Westport artist Barbara Sampson. The ceramic sculpture commemorating this wine was created by Kimmi Kerns.2013 Maritime Poster Westport winery

This wine benefits the Northwest Carriage Museum in Raymond and also features an original watercolor by Darryl Easter.
