Community Foundation of South Puget Sound Awards $110,000 to Thurston County Non-Profits

capitol lake heritage fountainThe Community Foundation of South Puget Sound awarded $110,000 in grants to 22 Thurston County nonprofits during its fall 2013 grant round. Over the past year, The Foundation has awarded over $264,000 in grants to Thurston County groups. In addition grants of more than $126,000 were awarded in Lewis and Mason Counties.

“The nonprofits receiving support help strengthen and sustain the quality of life in Thurston County,” notes Norma Schuiteman, executive director. “The variety of grantees demonstrates the broad range of causes we fund throughout our service area.”

Included in this grant round is support for Ballet NW, Catholic Community Services Community Kitchen, CIELO, Community Youth Services, The Evergreen Foundation’s ‘Generations Rising’ program, the Family Education and Support Center, GRuB, Girl Scouts, Mercy Housing NW for Evergreen Vista Apartment residents, Morningside, Olympia Free Clinic, Olympia Union Gospel Mission, Olympia School District’s STEM Robotics competitive program, Olympia Symphony, South Sound Parent-to-Parent, Pizza Klatch programs to support LGBTQ youth, Rainier Therapeutic Riding serving wounded warriors, Rebuilding Together helping low-income residents stay in their homes, Rochester Organization for Families (ROOF); SafePlace, Scatter Creek Community Farm & Conservancy, and the South Sound Estuary Association.

The Foundation’s next grant deadline is September 19, 2014. A new application and guidelines are being developed and will be available during mid-2014. For a more information on these grants, please visit our website.
