December 1, 2013 marks the start of the First Annual Olympia Downtown Decorating Contest in concert with the Downtown for the Holidays Tree Lighting Ceremony in Sylvester Park. The Downtown Decorating Contest, hosted by the Parking & Business Improvement Area (PBIA) will feature over 70 downtown Olympia small businesses that have come together to light up downtown this holiday season. We encourage people come down and see the beautiful decorations that will provide a festive mood for the Holidays and to see what the small businesses of Downtown Olympia have to offer for your gift giving and daily needs.

Storefront decoration displays will be voted on by the public at ItsYourOlympia.com. Voting runs from December 1 – 15, providing many opportunities to drive, walk and shop around Olympia downtown businesses.

All voters will be entered to win great downtown prize packages donated by participating businesses. Two first place winners will each receive a prize packages valued at $500 and five second place winners will each receive $200 in downtown gifts! The drawing will take place on December 16 and winners will be notified via email.  Prizes may be picked up at Courtyard Antiques and Home Décor at 705 4th Ave East.

“It has been fun planning this event for the Downtown and our wishes are that everyone enjoys the event as much as we have” says Mary Corso, owner of Courtyard Antiques and Home Décor, “And we are looking forward to seeing the Olympia city lights shine from miles away!”
