Westport Winery’s Dawn Patrol Wins Gold Medal In Los Angeles

Westport WineryOn May 15 and 16, Westport Winery earned three medals at the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition. Dawn Patrol, a blend of Riesling and raspberry, earned 90 points and a gold medal at this event. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits Westport’s VFW Post 3057.

Bella, the winery’s unique blend of Tempranillo, Primitivo, Refosco, Barbera, Merlot and Syrah, earned a bronze medal. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Mt. Rainier Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Willapa White, an off-dry blend of Pinot Gris and Riesling, produced by Westport under the Maritime Wine brand also earned a bronze medal.

This event has been held for 74 years and showcases the finest domestic and international vintages. It is widely considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the United States.

Westport Winery and Vineyards By-the-Sea, with the outdoor sculpture garden, grape maze, and bakery, is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport. Come see for yourself why Westport was named the 2011 Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest, voted 2010, 2012 and 2013 Best Wine Tour by King 5 Evening Magazine viewers, and Best Wine in Grays Harbor by The Daily World.

The winery, bakery, gift shop, nursery, and restaurant open daily at 11 a.m. with lunch offered daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, dinner is served from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and dinner reservations are recommended by calling 360-648-2224.
