What does a healthy relationship look like for those ages 10 to 14? The best way to find out is to ask them. So TOGETHER! and the YWCA of Olympia helped local girls and girls in this age bracket create two videos about healthy dating. They share warning signs of an unhealthy relationship, share what they want out of a relationship, and describe what a good partner in their age group looks like. The videos also include information on what to do for those youth who think they or a friend might be in a bad  relationship.

You can see the videos on TOGETHER!’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/TOGETHERforKids. Other youth are encouraged to watch the videos and share in the comments their own feelings on healthy dating.

These videos were produced through the Thurston Coalition for Women’s Health, facilitated by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services. One in ten teen girls experiences dating violence. These videos seek to foster greater community awareness of the problem and resources to get help.  In 2011, the Thurston Coalition for Women’s Health prioritized their top goal as reducing violence and abuse against women and girls, and the trauma associated with it.
