Westport Winery’s bubbly cranberry wine, Rapture of the Deep, has earned a double gold medal for the third time in 2013. This week, in the heart of New York’s wine country at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition, Grays Harbor County’s first winery represented Washington State at the highest level. A portion of the proceeds of this wine benefits the Driftwood Theater in Aberdeen.

This is one of three wines created by winemaker Dana Roberts that includes the Cranberry Coast’s most famous fruit. Roberts also crafts a port-style wine made of cranberry, blackberry and blueberry called Shelter From The Storm. Bog Berry Blush–featuring the winery’s general manager, Carrie Roberts, the winemaker’s sister on the label–is a blend of cranberry and Gewurztraminer.

The winery’s most unique wine, Shiver Me Timber, a blend of late harvest Riesling, passionfruit, orange and guava, earned a silver medal, as did their other Hawaii inspired wine, Pineapple Express. These wines benefit Grays Harbor’s Habitat for Humanity and Grays Harbor YMCA, respectively. Both Carrie and Dana Roberts were born in Hawaii and their parents and winery owners, Blain and Kim Roberts, continue to honor their children’s birthplace with these wines.

Peaches on the Beaches a delicious blend of Riesling and peach brought home a bronze medal. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wine benefits the Grays Harbor Breast Cancer Alliance.

Westport Winery, Restaurant, Bakery and Nursery are open daily at 11a.m. The winery is open for lunch daily from 11 am. to 4 pm. and for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 p.m. to 8.p.m. The winery with its unique grape maze, extraordinary outdoor sculpture and display garden is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Westport and Aberdeen.
