ThurstonTalk’s Weekend Event Calendar For Olympia

The first weekend in February is upon us.  I am looking over my shoulder, wondering where January went when it flew by.  It’s easy to talk about time passing each month when we change the calendar or reflect on a birthday.  I should have stopped writing 2012 on checks anymore.  But, it’s too easy to stick to those “old” habits.

Now that we are well into 2013, pull out your calendar and jot down these major events and festivals happening in Olympia.

Here are some fun activities and events to fill your schedule this weekend.

  • Enjoy Free Friday Night at the Hands On Children’s Museum.
  • Catch a production of Olympia Family Theater’s ‘James and the Giant Peach’ or Capital Playhouse’s ‘Next to Normal.’
  • Sign your kids up for a cooking class at Bayview School of Cooking.  Saturday’s class is all about chocolate.
  • Swing by the City of Lacey’s Ethnic Celebration – a free family event of music., crafts, and food at Saint Martin’s University.
  • Dance with your sweetie at Capital High School’s Father Daughter Dance.
  • Don your best attire for the Illumniated Ball, benefiting the Community Art Studio and Procession of the Species.
  • Cook tasty snacks for your Super Bowl party.
  • Plan your Thurston County staycation.
  • Take a winter walk at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.
