South Puget Sound dwellers fell in love with “The Highest Tide,” Jim Lynch’s enchanting debut novel that’s set in their own waters. They followed him willingly to one of the northernmost points of the state as his second book, “Border Songs,” demonstrated that “Lynch has broken through to the edge of literary stardom.” –Jeff Baker, The Oregonian.

That was a prophetic statement. Lynch’s most recent novel, “Truth Like the Sun,” set in Seattle, is widely praised and was named as one of a NY Times reviewer’s ten favorite books of 2012. “Gimmick-free and uncategorizable, this is just a flat-out great read with the spirit of a propulsive, character-driven 1970s movie.” — Janet Maslin, NY Times.

Local fans can visit with Lynch in February when “Truth” will have just come out in paperback. The Olympia Timberland Library will host a reading and signing on Wednesday, February 6 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. and the Lacey Timberland Library will host Lynch on Saturday, February 23 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Books will be available for purchase at both events.

Truth Like the Sun is a cat-and-mouse tale of urban intrigue in Seattle in 1962, when Seattle hosted the World’s Fair that put the city on the map, and in 2001, after its transformation in the dot-com gold rush. The story revolves around a dynamic mayoral candidate, famous for having masterminded the fair, and an ambitious investigative reporter determined to discover the secrets behind his rise to power.

Lynch grew up in the Seattle area and graduated from the University of Washington. An award-winning journalist, he worked as a reporter for newspapers in Alaska, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and the Northwest before turning to fiction writing. He and his family live in Olympia.
