In the “Never Cook Sober Cookbook: From Soused Scrambled Eggs to Kahlua Fudge Brownies, 100 (Fool)Proof Recipes,” Stacy Laabs and Sherri Field from Olympia demonstrate that the only thing better than homemade is homemade with alcohol. “Cooking is a lot more fun when you do it sauced – and we’re not talking Worcestershire,” quip the authors.

Laabs and Field will be at the Olympia Timberland Library on Thursday, October 18 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. to talk about their book. The program takes place after regular library hours. Cookbooks will be available for purchase and signing.

The book includes recipes for appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts. The names of the recipes are tantalizing by themselves. They include Bottoms-Up Mudslide Smoothie, Distracted Bourbon Pecan Waffles, Happy Hour Clam Beer Bites, Tipsy Tequila Lime Chicken Tacos, Sassy Salmon in Champagne Sauce, and Mixology Cupcakes.

Laabs began a lifelong appreciation for wines and liquors after taking a bartending course at the age of 21, combining her two interests into inventive recipes. Field enjoys home brewing and wine making. She grew up with lively family adventures at restaurants involving the appreciation of great spicy food, family, and great-tasting margaritas. The website for their collaborative cookbook is http://nevercooksober.com.

The Olympia Timberland Library is located t 313 8th Avenue. For more information, call (360) 352-0595 or go to www.TRL.org.
