OLYMPIA, Wash. – Puget Sound Energy congratulates electric customers William and Kathy Brown of Yelm, Wash. and Larry Smith of Lacey, Wash. for each winning a new ENERGY STAR®-qualified Gladiator Chillerator® garage refrigerator donated by Whirlpool. The only refrigerator designed specifically for the garage, it uses less energy than a 40 watt light bulb.
The Brown’s entered to win a Chillerator garage refrigerator when they attended PSE’s Rock the Bulb: The Re-Energize Tour light bulb exchange event held at the Yelm Goodwill in August. Smith entered to win a Chillerator garage refrigerator at Ralph’s Thriftway in Olympia where the refrigerator had been on display since June.
“Ralph’s Thriftway was pleased to partner with Puget Sound Energy and Whirlpool to showcase the Gladiator Chillerator garage refrigerator in our store,” said Kevin Stormans, owner of Ralph’s Thriftway. “We were excited to host the contest and provide our customers with an opportunity to win this energy-efficient appliance.”
Older model refrigerators and freezers can use up to four times the energy of newer energy-efficient models. By replacing old refrigerators and freezers customers can save up to $200 a year in energy costs.
PSE residential electric customers can still take advantage of the following summer appliance rebates until Sept. 30:
- Up to $385 in rebates on the purchase of a Gladiator Chillerator garage refrigerator. Customers can receive a $300 instant rebate when they order their Chillerator online, the purchase also qualifies for a $50 PSE-Whirlpool rebate. Customers can get an extra $35 rebate when they sign up with PSE to recycle their old refrigerator or freezer.
- $50 rebate from PSE and Whirlpool on the purchase of qualifying high-efficiency Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag and Gladiator refrigerators.
- $35 rebate, free pick up and free recycling for old refrigerators and freezers when customers call before Sept. 30 to schedule an appointment.
After Sept. 30 residential electric customers will be able to receive the following rebates:
- $35 rebate on qualifying high-efficiency refrigerators
- $20 instant rebate on qualifying high-efficiency freezers from participating retailers
- $20 rebate, free pickup and free recycling for old refrigerators and freezers
