“Olympia Auto Mall is truly the state’s largest auto mall,” states Executive Manager Alicia Nelson.

Encompassing over 55 acres and housing thousands of vehicles, shoppers are destined to find the right car, at the right price here in town.

“By having ten dealerships in one location, a consumer can walk around and see over 4,000 vehicles,” says Nelson.  “Shoppers save time by parking their car in one location.”

And, time is what most consumers treasure.  “The Olympia Auto Mall is an easy shopping environment.  Everyone wants to save time these days and our location and selection does just that,” adds Nelson.

The Olympia Auto Mall is specifically zoned for auto-related uses.  “We make it easy for consumers to buy, service, and get parts for their vehicles.  In the auto mall, you can also find an auto body repair shop, car rental and a boat dealership,” explains Nelson.

“With just one click, consumers can search the entire inventory of used vehicles at every dealership,” says Nelson when describing just how simple it is to buy a car at Olympia Auto Mall.

Prior to 1986, auto dealers were spread throughout the Olympia area.  “The dealers banded together and decided that it would be more convenient for consumers to all be in one location.  So, slowly each dealer started moving up here,” remarks Nelson.

Besides being a shopping destination, the Olympia Auto Mall has helped a variety of non-profit and community groups when they needed it most.  “We donated the first van to the South Sound Reading Foundation so they could deliver books,” reflects Nelson.

“The dealers opt to be flexible enough (in their donations) so that we can respond to an urgent community need,” she says.

Through an annual safety fair, scheduled this year for September 8th at the Westfield Capital Mall, the Olympia Auto Mall expands its outreach.  The safety fair will include demos from local police and fire groups as well as discounted bike helmets, purchased by the dealers, for children in need.  Stop by between 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

The dealers at the Olympia Auto Mall support local community events and non-profit organizations.

“It’s important, to the dealers, that we are showing our commitment to the community,” comments Nelson.  “We may be the state’s largest auto mall but we’re unique in the sense that we truly care about our community.”

“Besides the selection and convenience, we have been here, in West Olympia, for around 26 years so we are invested in the community.  The auto mall cares about this community,” comments Hanson Motors owner, Vince Hanson.

With more than 20 years of experience in this role, Nelson has seen five of the auto dealers transition to the second or third generation of family ownership.  “Each of our dealers is family-owned and four are owned by families that live in Thurston County,” comments Nelson.

“It’s been really cool to watch the younger generation grow up and now run their family’s dealership,” summarizes Nelson.
