Olympia, WA – Washington’s longest-running ballet company is presenting something new to the Olympia area this summer. Ballet Northwest presents a Young Choreographers Showcase at Olympia High School on August 26, 2012.

Ballet Northwest Co-Artistic Director Josie Johnson said “We’re so proud of the choreographers for the wonderful job they’ve done. It will be a diverse, high quality program with a little bit of something for everyone – ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop.”

This one-time performance features premieres created by local dancers for local dancers. Bring the family and watch BNW company dancers perform works conceived, crafted and directed by their peers. A celebration of youth innovation in dance! BNW is excited to welcome artists from Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia, Kids in Koncert, and Comerford Irish Dancers who will also perform their own pieces. The performance is sponsored by the Charlotte Martin Foundation.

“We’re excited to have special guest performers from other area youth arts organizations performing their own pieces in the program, adding to the diversity,” Ballet Northwest Co-Artistic Director Ken Johnson stated.

The Young Choreographers Showcase performs at the Olympia High School Performing Arts Center on Sunday August 26, 2012. Curtain time is 7pm and tickets will be available at the door for $10. Pre-sale tickets can also be purchased at Johansen Olympia Dance Center during open hours. Visit www.balletnorthwest.org for more information.
