Deciding who you would like to be your propane supplier can be daunting. There are several choices out there, and several things to consider when making this decision. Often, people look solely at the price per gallon without considering other aspects of a provider’s service.
Here are some questions to consider when selecting a propane provider. While I can’t speak for my competitors, I’ve included Acme Fuel‘s answers below.
1. How long has the company been in business?
Acme has been in business since 1925, in the same location in downtown Olympia. Acme is a third generation family owned business; so we live here, where we work. As a local business, we support the local community and local charities. Basically, your money is put back into the local economy. Not sent somewhere else benefitting a different city or county or state.
2. If there is an after hours emergency, how accessible and fast is the response?
Acme has a true 24/7 afterhours emergency service. You just call our 360-943-1133 number and if the office is closed, you will be patched through to our answering service. We have someone on call 365 days of the year. We aim to take care of our customers, so we call you back very quickly; often within minutes of your call. Whether you need an emergency delivery or repair work, we are available to take care of it.
3. What is the service area per truck?
We service Thurston and Mason Counties (a relatively small geographic area) with 5 propane delivery trucks. We are in all areas regularly and some locations several times a week! By not spreading ourselves too thin, we are able to provide unparalleled service.
4. Where is your company headquartered?

5. What is your pricing structure?
At Acme Fuel, we price our fuel based on the customer’s tank size and whether they lease or own the tank. That’s it! So on any given day, we can guarantee that all customers with the same tank set up, will pay the same price…..no games. In addition, we do not charge ANY delivery fees, just sales tax. We take pride in treating all of our customers fairly and equally.
