To celebrate International Compost Awareness Week (May 7-13, 2023), the Master Recycler Composter Program of Thurston County is hosting 2 in-person workshops on Saturday May 6, 2023 at the Closed Loop Park Demonstration Garden.

From 10am to 11am will be a workshop on food and yard waste composting and from 11am to noon will be a workshop on worm composting. Come for one or both workshops.

The workshops will be held rain or shine. The demonstration garden is outside and has no seating available, but you are welcome to bring your own chair.

Workshops are free and open to the public. No advance registration is required for in-person workshops.

Directions to Closed Loop Park Demonstration Garden:
Closed Loop Park Demonstration Garden is located inside the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center at 2420 Hogum Bay Road NE.
Once you are at Waste and Recovery Center entrance follow the road in and take the first right into the parking lot. This lot is for garden and dog park visitors. Closed Loop Park demonstration garden is all the greenery adjacent to the parking lot and to the left of the dog park entrance. Composting workshops are held in the composting area next to the gazebo. The gazebo is located on the opposite end of the dog park entrance.
