Meditations for Challenging Times Series

Olympia: Thursday, January 20th 7:00-8:30pm
Tacoma: Thursday, January 27th 7:00-8:30pm
With Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Wangpo

Bright side exists
From moment to moment our state of mind is changing, which means our emotions change with it. This continual rise and fall of our mental state includes feelings of sadness and depression. Our own experience shows that when our mind sinks to a depressed state we can be certain that this will not last. But when we are in the middle of that state, it feels like it will last forever. If we are able to stay mindful of these truths and know how to transform our states of mind, then negative experiences of mind can change into positive ones. This allows us to actually take control of our experience and eliminate our unpleasant experiences of mind.

The class will consist of short meditations and teachings, and is suitable for everyone–no experience needed!

American Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Wangpo offers essential and practical advice for anyone who has ever suffered from depression. This class is part of our Meditation for Challenging Times series; the other two topics will be Loneliness and Loss. It is not necessary to attend all three classes in the series–please feel free to drop in. The classes are on the Third Thursday of the month in Olympia, and the Fourth Thursday of the month in Tacoma.
