The Evergreen State College Daniel J. Evans Library presents “Put a Little Honey In My Sweet Tea” a performance by E. Patrick Johnson.

This dramatic reading is based on the oral histories collected in Johnson’s, Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South–An Oral History and Black. Queer. Southern. Women.–An Oral History. The oral histories are from black queer men and women who were born, raised, and continue to live in the South.

The performance covers the following topics: bullying, religion, coming out, gender nonconformity, sexual trauma and love.

Johnson is Carlos Montezuma Professor of Performance Studies and African American Studies and the Curator for Black Arts in the Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for Performing Arts at Northwestern University.

This performance will be held virtually Monday, May 11, from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm, “doors” at 5 pm PDT via Zoom webinar: https://evergreen.zoom.us/j/92368420141
