This winter holiday concert is a perfect moment to join family and friends for an evening of revitalizing seasonal music. Masterworks Choral Ensemble’s December 1st concert will celebrate the season with a fine array of songs and carols sung to wondrous choral arrangements. A few audience sing-along’s are promised too!
Music selections are an extravagant mix ranging across the eras. “Winter Canon” comes from a 16th Century composition, while Enya’s “White is in the Winter Night” is contemporary. There are modern arrangements of carol classics in “Wenceslaus Canon” and “Jingle Bells Hallelujah.” A Vaughn Williams medley glows with a warm, traditional ring. “The Nutcracker in Three Minutes” will have you rollicking along, and a Nutcracker piano 4-hands will dazzle. The Singers small ensemble will draw you in with four superb songs and arrangements.
A very special addition to the evening will be Camille McLean performing Chopin’s Ballad No. 1 on piano. She won MCE’s 2018 Youth Music Competition at the Middle School level. Pianist Angi Swan’s children’s choir, Soaring Eagles, will perform “Masters in the Hall” and “Peace, Peace” to bring the evening’s performance to a lovely close.
