History Talks at the Schmidt House presents: “Nothing Worthwhile is Easy: An Early History of Saint Martin’s University.”

A handful of Roman Catholic monks from Minnesota established Saint Martin’s in 1895. Father Peter Tynan, Chaplain of Saint Martin’s University, will share the early struggles of the school and how it overcame prejudice, economic realities, and unrealistic expectations as it has grown over the past century.

Fr. Peter Tynan, OSB is a monk of Saint Martin’s Abbey in Lacey, WA. From 2002 to 2017 he organized the archives for Saint Martin’s University saving many historical records from being lost in the process. He currently serves as the University Chaplain.
