OLYMPIA — Reservations are now available for a special day of summertime tours at the Washington State Governor’s Mansion.
The tours are hosted by the Governor’s Mansion Foundation, and will be at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 29.
Constructed in 1908, the Georgian-style mansion is the oldest building on the state Capitol Campus. It boasts panoramic views of the city of Olympia, Capitol Lake, Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
“We are delighted to have this opportunity to showcase the mansion,” said Dawna Donohue, who chairs the foundation’s tour committee.
Tour details
• Each tour is 45 minutes of standing and walking.
• Photo ID required for participants 18 and up; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• There is a maximum of 25 spaces available for each tour and reservations are made on a first-come basis.
• Cameras, backpacks, umbrellas, strollers, food and beverages are not permitted.
• The mansion is accessible to wheelchairs and walkers. Visitors must walk a 200-yard incline up to the entrance.
• No public restrooms are available.

Make a day of it
In addition to the special mansion tours, visitors are invited to take guided public tours of the Legislative (Capitol) Building and view the war monuments and campus botanicals by way of self-guided informational brochures available at the capitol’s main entrance Tour and Information Desk.
The day will end with a free community concert by the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. The performance will highlight pieces from previous seasons and begins at 6 p.m. near the Tivoli Fountain on the West Capitol Campus.
