This Saturday, October 4, the City of Olympia and the Nisqually Indian Tribe will dedicate the new McAllister Wellfield with a public celebration. The wellfield, a unique partnership between the Tribe and the City, will provide a high quality and protected drinking water supply for both communities over the next 50 years and beyond. The new 20 acre wellfield replaces McAllister Springs as the City’s primary water source. The Nisqually Tribe will develop a water supply at the wellfield in a future phase.

The dedication event will begin 10:00 a.m. with a reception and light refreshments. Formal ceremonies will start about 10:30 a.m. with a Tribal Blessing, followed by a special presentation of Nisqually Canoe Family Singers. Dedication remarks will be provided by Olympia Mayor Stephen H. Buxbaum, Nisqually Tribal Chair Cynthia Iyall, State Office of Drinking Water Director Clark Halvorson, and Ecology Water Resources Program Manager Tom Loranger. The new pump house will be open for public viewing.
