Thurston County and the Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC)

The two basins cover a mix of urban and rural areas, including: western Tumwater and its urban growth area, the Capitol State Forest, and unincorporated Thurston County. Thurston County long-range planning staff will present information about the following project:

Guiding Growth, Healthy Watersheds: Thurston County and TRPC received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant to study policies that protect select watersheds draining to Puget Sound, including the Black Lake and McLane Creek basins. At this meeting, participants can provide input on management strategies for the basins that will protect water quality and flow in the future. Policies under consideration include changes to zoning and development regulations, transfer or purchase of development rights, long-term protection of sensitive lands, and low-impact development.
