Author Ardeth De Vries serves as president of “Old Dog Haven,” the largest, nonprofit senior dog rescue in the United States. She has poured her advocacy into a book of the same name, and at the Olympia Timberland Library, Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 2 to 3:45 p.m., she will share her passion, her knowledge of the problem, and some of the heart-lifting stories old dogs can tell.

The illustrated book explains why Old Dog Haven exists by presenting the stories of 36 homeless dogs and the people who rescued them. It also includes information on how to plan ahead for a dog’s senior years, making end-of-life decisions and how to cope with the death of a beloved canine friend.

Copies of the book will be for sale and signing at the library that evening. All programs at Timberland libraries are free and open to the public.
