WSECU and South Puget Sound Community College Foundation Align Efforts to Support Student Success

WSECU’s commitment to advancing the common good is evident in their support of education, people, and programs that strengthen communities throughout Washington state. As part of their active community involvement, WSECU helps educational organizations including support for youth-focused educational programs and first-generation college students and students from marginalized communities. “That is why South Puget Sound Community College Foundation is proud to partner with WSECU to support student success at South Puget Sound Community College,” says Amber Wetzel, director of strategic partnerships & major gifts.

True to their history and roots as an organization dedicated to public service, WSECU has been a generous long-standing partner to the SPSCC Foundation by consistently supporting student success through scholarships, programs, and fundraising events since 2005. Their substantial contributions to student success play a vital role in helping students follow their academic paths to completion. WSECU has also been an outstanding Community Champion and sponsor of the college’s signature fundraising events in support of student scholarships and the college programs that help them achieve their academic goals. Amber Wetzel shared, “We are pleased to be in alignment with their values as we help all students not only have access to higher education, but also have the means to persist so they can complete their degrees.”

Another exciting program that WSECU has actively supported over the years in partnership with SPSCC is the All-Washington Academic Team. The All-WA program recognizes diverse, high-achieving students in higher education from across the state, highlighting Washington’s community and technical college students. By participating in providing scholarship support to All-Washington Academic Team students, WSECU helps reinforce the importance of their drive and commitment to maintaining high standards of academic excellence and community service.

WSECU has been a generous sponsor and participant at the SPSCC Foundation’s large signature events, often going beyond in finding creative ways to support and get involved. For the past several years, they have been a Premier sponsor at SPSCC’s Clipper Scramble Golf Tournament and, helping to make the event both fun and successful. At smaller networking and community events, WSECU has consistently been ready to help with volunteer support and even added a special touch to events such as generously offering creative gift baskets for silent auctions.

Because of their long-standing support, SPSCC recognizes WSECU as a Lifetime Circle supporter. Through SPSCC’s Circles of Leadership, the Foundation honors community partners who have made significant contributions to the college over the years. Of the three circles of leadership recognized at the event, Lifetime Circle members are those who have cumulatively given over $25,000 in their lifetime of giving. As members of SPSCC’s Lifetime Circle of support, the credit union continues to be a trusted and impactful partner when it comes to advancing the college and helping students get the financial support they need to complete their degrees.
