Depression. Addiction. It can be hard to talk about these subjects, whether you are the one struggling with them or it’s a friend or family member you are worried about. Providence Swedish understands this and wants to help with a free Community Talk on behavioral health and addiction services at the Providence Behavioral Health & Recover in Lacey on October 17 at 5 p.m.

Presentations provided by Dani Benavente, SUDP, CADC, Donna Putman, SUDP, LMHC and Stephen Lykins, MD will help anyone who is struggling with substance abuse and/or mental health issues, as well as those who are concerned about a loved one.

Community Talk on Addiction and Mental Health Issues

The evening will begin with a meet and greet with Benavente, Putman and Lykins from 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. It’s your chance to get to know these medical experts in a relaxed setting. Then from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., they will present on the following subjects:

  • Connections between substance use and mental health
  • Is addiction a disease?
  • Which drugs are commonly abused
  • Other addictions: tobacco and gambling
  • Fentanyl and the use of Narcan
  • Treatment and recovery

If you or a loved one is having a hard time dealing with addiction or mental health, Providence Swedish is here to help. Attending the October 17 Community Talk is the first step.
