“It’s for the Kids!” is the motto of the Foundation explains Allison Barker, who does social media and auction marketing for the Foundation. Started in 1999, the Foundation has been holding an auction since 2000 to raise monies for several programs that benefit the kindergarten through eighth grade students and their teachers in the Griffin School District. “Since 2000, we’ve raised over $1 million through our auction and fundraising efforts,” shares Barker. “We hope to provide a fun community event and raise funds to support our local kids.”

“Our scope for 2023 is to focus on doing all that we can for the kids and Griffin School community with the generosity of our supporters,” shares Hayden Milligan, Griffin School Foundation president. “We’re committed to maximizing our use of donor dollars to impact the kids of Griffin!”

Funds from this year’s auction will be distributed in several ways. Classroom grants allow teachers to provide more educational materials and opportunities to students; monies can go to improvements to the school that benefit everyone; and they can be used to boost special education and athletic programs.

Eighth and 12th graders who attended at least one year of school within the district are eligible to apply to scholarships that are funded through the auction proceeds as well. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000 and help students attain their higher education goals.

Finally, the monies also support the Principal’s Checkbook Fund, which Miligan says serves students in the school with real time financial support that is otherwise not funded.
