Tips When Visiting Thurston County Pumpkin Patches
- Early in the season will give you the best selection.
- Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
- Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk.
- Be ready for the weather: that could mean sunscreen or an umbrella and a raincoat!
- Bring cash, though some accept cards, it’s good to be prepared.
- Bring gloves.
- Put cardboard or plastic garbage bags in your car to keep it clean.
Rutledge Family Farm

It’s no secret the Rutledge Family Farm (formerly known as Rutledge Corn Maze and Pumpkin Path) pulls out all the stops when it comes to fall family fun! The pumpkin patch is free to enter, so come as often as you like to find exactly what you want for your fall and Halloween décor. They offer 10 varieties of pumpkins as well as corn stalks, mini pumpkins and more to complete decorating. Ride the free wagon to and from the patch on weekends.
Admission to the farm gets you access to a variety of fun activities for the whole family, including wall ball, bubble barn, corn hole, corn maze, Zach the singing tractor and more! On the weekend, there is even more fun with the famous cow train, corn cannons, haunted maze, paintball and more.
Dogs are allowed on non-retractable leashes. Please pick up after them. Dogs are not allowed in the haunted maze. No entry is required for the pumpkin patch. Tickets for everything else can be purchased online at the Rutledge Family Farm website.
Hunter Family Farm

The Hunter Family Farm pumpkin patch in Yelm will open for the season on Saturday, September 28. They have a large variety of pumpkins, as well as gourds, squash and corn stalks. Admission includes a hay maze with giant slide, giant corn maze, junior corn maze, kiddie train and ATVs, farm animals, corn hole and the jumbo jumper! On the weekends, admission also includes wagon rides. Extra ticket items are the European super slide, on all open days, and the pumpkin slingshots and apple cannons on the weekends.
Hungry? Snack on cotton candy, kettle and caramel corn and Hunter’s hot spiced cider. Funnel of Love with deep-fried goodies will be there every day. On the weekends starting October 5 they will also have Steele Barrel BBQ and Boogie Beans Espresso! Be sure to check out their shop with lots of fun decorations and fall necessities like pumpkin carving kits. Dogs are allowed. Admission is required. Schilter Family Farm

Head to this pumpkin patch in Olympia for fall harvest festival fun! They have two pumpkin patches for you to pick the perfect pumpkin. They have over 15 varieties so you are sure to find what you are looking for!
Your admission also includes all their fun, family-friendly activities – over 25 of them! – including a low ropes obstacle course 2 corn mazes – including a Peanuts-theme! – hay pyramid, playgrounds, baby animals, zip swings and more. Take a ride on the cow train on the weekends. They also have paintball, apple blasters, gem mining and pony rides on the weekends that are a separate cost from the admission.
Hungry? Their Sweet Shack has all your fall favorites like apple cider donuts, kettle corn and more. On the weekends, those 21-and-over can head to the beer barn. The farm store has lots of other produce for you to purchase and the gift shop has seasonal decorations and other items, so definitely make time to peruse both!
