Saint Martin’s University has earned a place among the country’s best regional universities in the West, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best Colleges rankings. The University is ranked 8th overall in Best Value among Regional Universities in the West, a two-place increase from last year’s No. 10 rankings. The Western region of universities includes institutions in Hawai’i, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

“It’s wonderful to see Saint Martin’s recognized among the top colleges and universities in the West for social mobility and best-value,” said Patty Lemon, dean of admissions and enrollment. “We are thrilled to see this ranking reflect our commitment to serving our students with an excellent education and a solid foundation for their future.”

Saint Martin’s was also listed:

  • 35th overall in Diversity among Regional Universities in the West (up from No. 37 last year)
  • 47th overall in Top Performers on Social Mobility
  • 35th overall Regional Universities in the West
  • 33rd overall in Best Colleges for Veterans
  • No. 202 in Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs

“It is good to receive recognition for the work we are doing to increase student success for all students, especially for our diverse, inclusive community and for the work we do to serve veterans,” said Saint Martin’s University President Roy Heynderickx, Ph.D. “Social mobility has always been part of our mission as we aim to holistically educate students for vocations that for many provide greater incomes.  We are thankful for these rankings.”

To determine overall rankings for universities and colleges, U.S. News and World Report says it evaluates higher education institutions based on 16 measures of academic quality, including first-year student retention, graduation rates, social mobility, class sizes, faculty resources, expert opinion, student excellence, alumni giving and other data. U.S. News and World Report defines regional universities as those that offer a broad scope of undergraduate degrees and some master’s degrees.
